All the Wrong Reasons , Track 5
I went to school so I could get good grades, so I could make money, so I could get paid, so I could buy a house & I could buy a car, a wide screen TV & a nice VCR. I went to school for all the wrong reasons, education for occupation they had me believing. I ain't buying the American dream no more, because I'm building my own school and I'm walking through my own damn door. I started praying for all the wrong reasons, in a holy all-powerful man they had me believing, but I ain't buying that I'm a rib of Adam no more, because I'm building my own church and I'm walking through my own damn door. Well, I've got a life and it belongs to me, it took me 22 years just to see. I think a little bit too much I think a little bit too little. I just want to land somewhere in the middle. See I started reading those books for all the wrong reasons, in a world built solely by men they had me believing, but I won't be robbed of Women's History no more, because we're building our own libraries and walking through our own damn doors. I'm writing my own story and I'm walking through my own damn door.
